Feeling Pretty? You Should!

(Yes! - Coupon codes at the bottom for red apple lipstick!)

(Yes! – Coupon codes at the bottom for red apple lipstick!)  Berried Treasure on top, HOT MESS on the bottom.  I don’t name them folks, I just wear them.  (But if you would like to get in on the naming fun, they hold contests and let their customers choose!  Get in on the fun on their Facebook page!)

While God challenges us to always be working on our inner beauty, because it radiates outside of ourselves – I always felt prettier INSIDE when I felt put together “outside”.
I’m sure most women can relate, it’s hard to feel pulled together when your hair isn’t having a good day, or if you’re having skin issues, or if you’re missing your favorite shade of lipstick because it’s missing from your purse!!

I never really took into an account what was in the make-up I was putting on my face – around my sensitive eyes, and certainly not around my mouth.  I just knew this – it needed to stay put, because my lips are small!

I also never had acne much… until I hit my 30s.  Then hormonally, it seemed like I had monthly break outs.  With the removable of sugar, gluten and dairy – and a balancing of my hormones… I no longer struggle in that way.

I also make sure all of the products I put on my face aren’t causing more harm than their worth!  (What is your acne telling you?)

RED APPLE LIPSTICK is one of my favorite make-up companies now.  They were also one of the first ones I tried last year, because I’m a sucker for GREAT marketing, and their product delivered – with a wide selection of products made me assume they were really caring about today’s woman.  Young, old, (middle-aged, ahem)…  The owner really seemed to care about his client no matter their age – every woman actually buying his products!

I also love that you can read what is in the products, it’s not some big (dirty) secret… because the products are listed and easy to find.

Personally my favorite aspect is that they last.  I love eye shadow that I don’t have to keep re-applying… and lipstick that keeps its color and is moisturizing!  Then there is their newest gloss line “Mint-2-Be” which has a natural fresh minty scent to it…  and again, if you ever ingest it – it isn’t harmful!! (interesting concept considering most paraben filled plastic make-ups make people sick, sick, sick – and they have no idea!)

Two of my favorite neutral lipsticks for summer are “SUMMER SANDS” and “FLIRT WITH ME”.  Summer sands has some SPF also, which is a great thing to remember as we’re out in the sun!

My favorite BOLD colors are “REBEL” (yes – instead of hiding – it’s a BOLD I feel pretty red!), “STRAWBERRY LIPS” and “SUNKISSED” for a mod-orange/red look.

My *favorite* lip glosses include the newest “HOT MESS” and “BERRIED TREASURE”,  ral “DIAMOND SANDS”, “NEW PEPPERMINT”

Here is a pic I took with HOT MESS on. Love this bright color for spring!

From Your Skin – Into Your Blood

Dessert Essence moisturizer is good stuff. It's inexpensive too. I got this at Vitacost, but most whole foods store carry their brand.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body.

Protecting you, and all of your other organs, is its main function.

There is a common misconception that what we put on our skin can’t possibly effect us the way the food effects us – because we don’t eat it.

It’s true – your body absorbs things in our gut and distributes them… and this can cause damage in our gut or throughout our body as a direct result.

But what if it only takes 26 seconds for something on your skin to absorb into your skin and into your blood steam…  would you consider more closely about what you’re putting on your skin?

Words like “parabens” didn’t mean much to me, even a year ago.  I knew studies had shows this particular named item in cancer cells… but I figured – I’m sure there are a lot of toxins in cancer cells.  Right?  Why would that matter specifically?

As my eyes have been opened and my mind has been stretched with more knowledge than I could have cared less about just a year ago…  I feel much differently now – because it’s affected me personally.  I’ve been sick enough.

Mineral Fusion is another gluten-free, cruelty-free brand I had been wanting to try. I got this at Natures Grocer, but it's available online as well. A "safe" SPF for spring!

I read a health article in magazine recently that said it was “not necessary” for people to be aware of “gluten” and parabens being in their make-up, because they would not be ingesting it.  However, we know that gluten can cause systemic inflammation – so obviously putting it on your skin, can very well be an issue.  We should certainly be aware of what we’re putting on our face, skin and obviously on our eyes, and mouths!

I've been using some Ecco Bella (color: Natural) for some stronger coverage - to go with my bare minerals powder foundation. So far - no major break outs. I have some of their lipsticks too.

Currently I use a lot of Red Apple Lipstick products on my eyes and lips – and I love their stuff. It’s high quality, it’s long-lasting – and that’s important to me.  Not to mention they are real people (a small business) – and you can tell they care about the products they’re producing for people they sincerely care about.  (They sent me an awesome book on make-up styles for Christmas as one of their loyal customers – I *love* surprise gifts like that!)  Plus, I just LOVE make-up.  Have you figured that out yet?

who for the joy set before Him endured the cross,

scorning its shame,

and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Red Apple Lipstick – SALE

My best duckface. Sad. I know. But love this color!  Red Apple Lipsticks “Diamond Sands”

It’s a well know fact, I have some of the smallest lips on the planet and I love lipstick/lip gloss.

I want to make sure the color on my lips is SAFE for me, in the event I ingest it!  Thankfully there are options out there!

(and RIGHT NOW they’re on sale!)

I love their shadows, lip liners, lip stick and lipgloss.  Great, quality products with safe and top notch ingredients!

Happy Lord’s day to you!

Eye On You

Gluten-free make up?

Is that really necessary?

I mean seriously… you’re not going to EAT your make-up – right?

But hold on a minute.  Your SKIN is your largest organ…

and it absorbs what you put onto it… into your skin and then into your blood stream…

So it may not be ingested to cause damage to your intestine specifically… but what if it’s causing problems in another system of your body?

That’s why there is so much commotion about parabens being in hair products, and face products… that you put into your skin and on your mouth, because those parabens are showing up in cancer cells.

So yes.  Gluten-free make-up, to me, IS necessary.  Paraben-free is also increasingly important.

Not just for people who have the dermatitis herpetiformis (the itchy rash-type of celiac disease)…

If you’re gluten sensitive – then it’s probably not worth the risk of what it’s doing that you can’t see.

Personally I always had problems with soap, deodorant, and make-up.  My mom said I had, “special skin”…

If by “special” she meant super FAIR, and prone to reactions…. then yes.  I am pretty special.

It’s with FULL confidence that I tell you how much I love the new shadows from Red Apple Lipstick brand.  Known for their gluten-free line of lip products, they’ve now produced a fantastic line of eye shadows.  They work well wet or dry, and are a great quality shadow that stayed on BEYOND all day for me.  I was quite impressed!!  Love the colors I got too!
