Most likely you’ll see what statistics show…

The most unhealthy nation in the world, with the most spent per person on health care.

Or rather, disease care.

I’ve really started to notice either two extremes – people who are clearly over weight, or people who are malnourished.

You might be surprised that food sensitivities, and hormonal imbalances can cause BOTH.

I take my own struggles for example.  Hypothyroidism for me, is caused by food sensitivities and leaky gut… (since the T4 to T3 conversion happens in your gut…)  My body WILL NOT lose weight, and it will gain it in the blink of an eye.

It doesn’t matter how much I move, if I tried to eat less (and actually eating too few of calories can also actually make you GAIN weight because it will shift your hormones too much).

One more reason why slow and steady wins the race!

Exercising too much can all defeat your purposes.  That’s right…. too much cardio, or too hard of workouts makes you hungrier, raises your cortisol and stresses our your adrenal glands…   NOT exactly what you’re going for either.

It’s hard not to think about people who struggle to lose weight and feel like they “can’t” – yet they have no clue it has to do with hormone balancing and food sensitivities.

When I was taking that new supplement a few weeks back, (the one with coconut, even though I can’t tolerate it), the first sign was I put on 4-5 lbs… in a week.  BAM.  Just like that.   Now some of it was obviously inflammation, and retention of water – but it doesn’t matter what I do when that happens… I crave sugar (fruit) like crazy and just never feel full.

Hypothyroidism kicked into high gear, despite my dose that I’m on being fine – just a week ago…  and it made me realize just how much our body works together…

Or doesn’t… when things aren’t right.

So, just some thoughts – if you, or someone you love… battles a weight issues – even though they are eating well, and exercising, and getting plenty of sleep – it’s important to look at the proper thyroid ratio (including Reverse T3), and look at their cortisol levels (a saliva test that measures things over 12 hours is best).

If they are underweight, and unable to gain – it’s important to look at absorption issues, and test their vital vitamins and amino acid levels.  An OATS blood test would be a good place to start.

It’s good to keep in mind that over weight doesn’t necessarily mean someone is lazy…  and thin doesn’t necessarily mean someone is healthy either…

When I first saw that abbreviation, I thought – whoa.  Someone is upset!

But alas, it’s just an acronym for the Methylenetetrahydofolate reductase – which is a gene mutation some have, that has to do with the liver.

After my appointment last week, we finally opted for this gene testing (It’s a swab test, super easy).  My children’s testing so far has also pointed to this, and we’ve talked about it now for a year.  Seems it was time to get to digging a little bit further.

People with the MTHRF gene mutation have trouble detoxing.  They hold onto things like extra hormones, or metals, or substances like alcohol…  lots of different things.  They struggle with neurotransmitters, such as epinephrine and serotonin – which are both controlled by the methylation of your liver.  When it doesn’t function – there is a build up of homocysteine – which can then lead to a whole host of diseases, including cancer.  (Read/learn more about it here)  If you have more question, the video is really informative – I listened to it while walking on the treadmill one night.

When you can’t detox from metals or hormones or toxins, and your body can’t turn one thing into another – the result is … the body in a diseased state.

Why would I need to know this information?  What could I do with it??

Well, specific genes can be established  to help us in supplementation – to help myself, and the kids.  For instance, there is a certain type of gene expression that needs a specific type of Vit.B6 and B12 to help support that methylation cycle.

For me, my biggest problem noticed recently besides the SIBO,  is my estrogen levels – when I don’t take my supplement on time – I can just feel myself getting anxious, and unable to control frustration.  Extra estrogen is a big reason for breast cancer and other issues!  Part of it is my adrenals – and that is all tied in.  My body can’t make adrenaline – so then I just end up feeling malise, or flu-like.

Personally I’m pretty excited to get the information back.  While I feel like I already know – it’s just one of those pieces to the puzzle and the specific information of gene expression will be helpful.  It explains substance abuse, another pathway to cancer/disease and so much more within my family, reactions to vaccinations, etc – and it can help us to help our kids.

So right now – my personal focus has been on natural treatments to get aggressive on my SIBO.  It’s a major problem that might never go away, but can be managed better.  With my limited diet – it’s just tough.  I need starches, but so many I can’t eat – and then my body can’t process them.  it’s a constant balancing act between foods I can’t process, and foods that trigger inflammation.

I may have had a bad morning the other day.  I was thinking about my friend who died of cancer – and how when she was sick, I really didn’t get it.  

For my birthday, she took me out to lunch and tried to explain it to me.  In my immaturity, and absence of life experiences – I just didn’t get it, but she knew.  She knew she was dying.

Now I consider – that lunch – and how precious her time was, and yet she spent it with me.  What a friend.

I know, we’re all dying… but I can’t help but realize the reality of my morality, and what a GIFT life is.

It’s helped me to prioritize my time, and my health – to let go of things I used to get upset about, and really just focus on gratefulness, and things of eternal value.  THAT is probably the biggest gift in all of this.

Recently, on my auto immune board, we were discussing just how toxic we were.  The comment was made about HOW toxic so many young women are in the western culture (the United States), and I nodded to myself.  Genetics are one thing – but they’ve also been altered by our environment and choices we’ve made and continue to make.  We have the power to change things for our children’s children – and help our children NOT pass on the vicious cycle, by living and eating the way God intended.  (Because you know most people don’t have time to be healthy – it’s all about convenience to keep us busy, busy, busy!)

Recently the facility that our family doctor works for let go of their privileges at our local hospital.  What that meant was, if my children needed to have their doctor see them at the hospital – it couldn’t happen.  While we don’t PLAN to be at the doctor often – sometimes, accidents and events happen that we DON’T plan and the hospital is a necessity.

And for those times.  We wanted to be ready.

So, recently – we switched to a different family doctor.

One we knew that would respect our “less than conventional” way of doing things.

With that, we needed to do “well child visits” to get acquainted with the new office and their practices.  (Ironically, a few days later my son ended up sick – one BIG reason I despise well visit checks!)

At this visit – the children were measured, and weighed and the “medical protocol” was fulfilled with the Obama-care slew of questions that allows for 85% typing and about 15% really listening to the patient.

And then the records were reviewed…  and the vaccination reports were reviewed.  Several of the kids were due for shots.

We declined them all.  15 month shots, we were behind on, the 4-5 year shots before school?  No thanks.  Boosters for the DTaP? or tetanus?  Nope.

To preface this, I will say – I was a big believer in vaccinations.  Our kids always got the most necessary shots, for the most part – on time.

I didn’t question the system.

I heard of people like Jenny McCarthy, who is a huge advocate for autism awareness, and her speculation that vaccinations might have something to do with the rise in autism in this country.  (I thought she was a kook – you know, a quack!)

I ignored it…

My kids didn’t have autism.  (Except a few of them are on the spectrum, and do have social and behavioral disorders)

We were healthy…

No actually.  We were sick most of the time.  Depite having the flu shot every year – we had gotten the flu the past 4 years.

What went wrong?

Vaccinations were important.  I mean come on, the government REQUIRED them to enter school for “our safety”… RIGHT?

Then, I realized I was sick last year…

Then I realized the system is broken… and at best VERY crooked.

The more I learned about the system, and studies, and statistics…

The more I questioned, the more I learned…

Could vaccines be more harmful than helpful… and why?

The answer is yes, and here is why…

Vaccines are meant to create antibodies in our systems – if they create an antibody response, they are considered “effective”.  Unfortunately, as I’ve learned – antibodies don’t always do what they’re supposed to (hence, auto immune responses), and having antibodies from a vaccine doesn’t equal an immunity to a virus or disease, like the medical field promotes.

If that were the case, if vaccines created immunity – we would never need a booster shot.  Right?

That is called – a business.

These vaccines are preserved in solutions which contain many toxins.  They are given to all people – regardless of age, preexisting health conditions or inability to rid their body of toxins.  The range of effects that the preservatives alone can have on a person – are too numerous to count.

You read your food labels – RIGHT?  At least I hope you do.  Can you read a shot label before it’s injected into your child?  You’d be sickened at what is in them.

I considered my own family, and extended family.  I had a niece who began having blood in her stool a week after her MMR shot.  The doctors swore it couldn’t have been from the shot – but there is nothing else it could have been.  Her parents were told it was possibly leukemia, but thankfully later she was diagnosed with ITP instead, which was still serious, but a better diagnosis.  Still the stress was insurmountable for her parents, and the questions ensued for me.

Our 7th child got a second H1N1 shot and had a serious reaction within 15 minutes.

Ever want to feel helpless?  Agree to put a shot into your child, and then realize you can’t get it out – and they’re fading in front of your eyes.  A 12 hour fever of 104+ that wouldn’t budge with any OTC meds was our nightmare.  Truly horrific, and never forgotten.

Then there is our 3rd child who always seemed more lazy than the others.  She was late to stand, late to walk (19 months) and late to talk.  Socially she was different too,  she stopped nursing what seemed like over night – at 9 months… she didn’t understand discipline cues nor simple directions that one might consider common sense.   She didn’t tell me she loved me until age 5, with lots of prompting.  When she was in our local Parents As Teachers program, she met most of her milestones, but Aspergers was discussed.  High functioning autism.

I didn’t want to label my child.  I knew she was smart.

But I also knew, she was different – and we were going to have to work on some coping mechanisms for her future.

Then my next son had similar issues – but different.  Socially he was radically observant, but behavioral he was often short lipped without thinking and out of control with his level of noise and sound making – constantly.  Often unable to control his outbursts.

I noticed early on they comforted one another.  They both enjoyed “spinning” in a movable chair, or just freely in a circle and my husband and I joked…”Spin therapy is soothing to them.”  Neither liked change in plans, and freaked out something was out-of-order in a daily schedule.  Later, when I read on Aspergers, these are all classic signs.

As they’ve aged, and we’ve watched them develop, the differences have been more clear.  While BOTH are very bright – they both clearly have autism spectrum disorders. Removing gluten and dairy has helped them dramatically.  From rashes, to the “head shaking” feeling they said they felt – diet has made a difference, but there are more toxins built up in their systems that we are working on getting OUT through various methods – and we are praying for more improvements for them as well.

As questions swirl about why there is such a rise in autism, and auto immune disease, learning disabilities and cancer in this country… I can’t help but realize that SO many vaccinations given recklessly have played a huge role in this medical nightmare.

Demanding babies are given multiple shots before they leave the hospital, and the amount their given before age 2?  More than the healthiest person could handle.

How about the yearly “flu shot scare” that the media and drug companies promote?  It should be illegal.

True immunity comes from your body actually fighting off something itself.  You’re much better off building your immune system, instead of letting the toxins in a vaccine break your system down.

There is a separate court system just for vaccinations.  Yes.  This is true.  The drug manufacturers also have immunity from lawsuits caused from harm or even DEATH from vaccinations.  Do your research.

Another Break-Up, Bye-Bye Microwave

It’s been on my heart for awhile.
I just felt untrue.

Like I was cheating.

The more I learned about how decietful this kitchen appliance was…

The more my husband and I decided that it should be out of our lives – for good.

But why? I mean… it seems like such a handy tool.  Right?

And for years … it was.

Pop food in, and in just a few minutes – food is warmed up and ready to be consumed.

But let’s break IT down (literally) exactly what a microwave does:

It heats food right?

No.

It does more than that.

It heats food quickly – right?

Oh… but hold on just a minute…

Are you or were you ever a breast-feeding mom?  Did you ever warm up breast milk in the microwave?

Why did experts tell you not to warm it up in the microwave?  (other than it’s going to make it scalding hot in the middle and could burn a baby…)

It’s because it also KILLS the nutrition in food.

You can have some perfectly great, nutritious food….

and then you “nuke” it – and what do you have?

What I like to affectionately call:

DEAD FOOD.

Yep.  That’s right.

No nutrition.

Well, the same is true for any food you put in that magic machine as well.

You’ve killed any nutrition in that delicious food – just by pushing the “that was easy” push button.

*UGH*

So now we’re going to eat this “DEAD FOOD”… why?

Since we eat for nutrition and energy for our body – why would you EAT this food from the microwave?

If you’re having a moment like me… where you just want to face pop yourself.  Then feel free.  I know.  It’s pretty crazy to thinking about the purpose of what you’re doing – and what is actually going on.

So, for the past 3 weeks we’ve tried living without it – just to make sure we could do it.

(But, was it ever really a question? We really don’t eat JUNK frozen foods that you couldn’t just heat up on a conventional oven anyway… but I often heat up water or actually put cooked food in there to keep it warm while I’m cooking – great use, yes?)

All of our veggies we cook on the stove – and the same with left overs… super easy to warm on the stove, not to mention – much safer.  It take 10 minutes to put something on some parchment paper and warm it in the oven… and it doesn’t KILL the food!

Isn’t that a time investment our body deserves??

Saving Money – Eating Gluten Free

I love my dad. He taught me the ability to make a dollar stretch if need be.

I never knew how much I would need those skills until I became the one footing bills for things.

Being smart about money was a gift that helped in college and in married life. As a wife of a retailer, we have good years, and bad. Early on, we weren’t able to save or predict those bad years – so we went without.

That’s what we’re supposed to do when we can’t afford things.

Figure out how to make money to make it work, OR go without.

With living and eating gluten free, a big concern seems to be price – that some how living this way is “a lot more expensive”, and people can’t afford it.

In reality, it is only certain products that are more expensive, and yes – you might have to reprioritize your life to make it work. I’m going to share a tip with you regarding Vitacost. I love this company because they offer many supplements that I get, and food products as well. While we don’t eat many processed foods, because of their expense – and knowing real food is more nutritious, we do like to have a few options.

First off – I got to www.ebates.com If you don’t have an ebates account, you should. Even if Vitacost is the only place you shop online. (I’m sure it’s not). But any online shopping, you start at Ebates.
Why?

Because they will mail you a check quarterly in a rebate form, for your purchases that start there. Advertisers pay them to promote their brands, and in turn – part of that rebate is sent to the consumer. This is effective and cheaper for the stores than click-through advertising, plus it’s all in one spot!

So, often times I wait until I get a sale notification from Vitacost.com that they’re having a sale. Last week they had a sale for 12% off. I also got another 12% rebate from ebates in my ebates account. On a $550 order, I saved almonst $60!

Last year I no clue what were the best prices of things, but now I have ball park figure amounts, so if you don’t either – don’t feel badly, we all start somewhere. But it’s helpful to know, so I know when to stock up on things!!!

I realize most people don’t spend $550. We don’t either honestly, but sometimes when we have a large supplement order, and we are preparing for vacation stock up – we do. But you get the point. Over time – the savings adds up.

Then you get a nice little check in the mail… which they call the “BIG FAT CHECK!”

In the mean time – if you can’t do perfect, try to do your best. Don’t beat yourself up. Negative stress isn’t healthy either!! Not everyone can eat everything organic at first. I totally get that. But cutting gluten out of your life is one of the biggest health decisions you can make. That is a decision you won’t regret.

While God challenges us to always be working on our inner beauty, because it radiates outside of ourselves – I always felt prettier INSIDE when I felt put together “outside”.
I’m sure most women can relate, it’s hard to feel pulled together when your hair isn’t having a good day, or if you’re having skin issues, or if you’re missing your favorite shade of lipstick because it’s missing from your purse!!

I never really took into an account what was in the make-up I was putting on my face – around my sensitive eyes, and certainly not around my mouth.  I just knew this – it needed to stay put, because my lips are small!

I also never had acne much… until I hit my 30s.  Then hormonally, it seemed like I had monthly break outs.  With the removable of sugar, gluten and dairy – and a balancing of my hormones… I no longer struggle in that way.

I also make sure all of the products I put on my face aren’t causing more harm than their worth!  (What is your acne telling you?)

Baked Oatmeal Cake

Honestly, I just like to bake.

I read today that cooking is an art, and baking is chemistry…

I never took chemistry – but I bet it would be extra interesting to me now.  Especially knowing how so many processed foods are like a chemical concoction.  (Here is a great hour long video on food  additives from my nauturopath if you’re curious about what is in that processed food that lines the core of a grocery store.)

Back to baking…

Since I can’t eat it – it’s therapy for me to make healthy options for my kids!

As I’ve refined and changed how I’ve baked things, I really have enjoyed not measuring.  I like knowing “within my hand” about how much something is – and just mixing up loveliness in a bowl.  I still use my 1 cup measuring tool on occasion, and that’s about it.  (Eater – be warned). 🙂

So, for Easter Sunday I wanted to make this Baked Oatmeal, or Oatmeal cake that Whole Mom had on her website.  After reading through some different, but similar recipes – I loved this one, because it called for soaked oats.

Soaked oats are supposed to be more nutritious for us, because they are easier to digest, therefore you get the health benefits out of them that you normally wouldn’t because they are difficult for your body to break them down.  So I used my Trader Joes gluten-free oats and soaked them about 10-12 hours with the sweeteners as suggested.  I made that portion in the morning and then put the entire thing together and baked it the night before.

If I could change one thing on the recipe, it would be that this needed to be in a 9×13 pan.

I dislike messes.

After I dumped in the pan I used, I decided I should put a pan underneath it in the oven – and I’m SO thankful I did.  A bit of coconut oil did spill over (and onto the pan – oven spared!)

My kids still enjoy some oatmeal – but we do try to eat it soaked.  I also enjoy making the Bob Mills Gluten-Free Steel Cut oats in the crock pot.  Super easy – and instructions are on the package.  Put together before bed, add in some fruit, pure maple syrup or raw honey and voila!  A great part of a filling breakfast for my growing crew!

I know people think I’ve gone, perhaps a little… quacky.  Maybe I have.  What others “think of me” may have bothered me, even a few months ago – totally doesn’t now.

Why?

Because I know…  (and I don’t want to say I know I’m RIGHT, because this isn’t about *me*, it’s about God, and His design of us.)   I can say, I firmly know what truly works… and it’s not “just works for me”…  It can totally work for YOU.

I’ve seen it now – over and over again… and I feel badly for people who still continue to CHOOSE to suffer and add-on more medicines, and additional auto immune diseases, even cancer.  It’s sadly predictable.

If you have auto immune disease or cancer, or you KNOW you have the genes in your family for asthma, thyroid disease, fibromyalsia, psoriasis chronic infection, sinusitis, allergies, lupus, celiac, cancer, type I or II diabetes etc … or you are on medication for either… listen up!

Removing gluten from your diet for life – is your first step towards health.

Why?

Because the main glutens of the most popular grains (which is a majority of what glutens are in foods, and spices, and sauces, and meat fillers, etc)  are GMO products… with a HUGE PROTEIN that is destroying our guts.  While I understand the point of why GMOs were created, and I’m confident that an extra-large protein that is too difficult for our bodies to digest, wasn’t even on the radar for the seed companies – believe me, they DO realize it now – and are attempting to change it.  (quietly)  It’s going to take at least 10 years to turn this freight train around, and in the mean time – we are getting sicker, and sicker.

I can tell you how it’s affected each of my kids differently, my mother and father, my brothers, niece and nephew… I can explain how people with RA, Thyroid problems, Parkinson’s… on and on – have felt MAJOR changes just by starting with STEP ONE – REMOVING gluten from their diets – completely.

Please.  I beg of you, to TRY IT for 30 days.

What do you REALLY have to lose?   (and what do *I* personally have to gain?)

It’s truly not about me, it’s about letting other people know before they get so sick they have permanent effects – like I do.  SO many auto immune disease symptoms can be reversed or eliminated if they are cut off at the source.

In a curious exploration, I visited a RA board on Facebook to see what they were talking about.  I was deeply saddened that the entire page was talking about what drugs they were on, and how long they had been on them.  Most had multiple auto immune disease issues… and NO ONE – not ONE talked about the TRUTH that this all resides in your GUT HEALTH.

It makes my heart so sad – because I KNOW a majority of the reason why they don’t know – is because their doctor doesn’t know.  If their doctor instructed them to go gluten-free – they would do it.  If their doctor tells them “this pill is what you need” – they will take that instead.  We want someone else to tell us how to be healthy, vs. thinking for ourselves.

I’ll be honest, I had no clue how awesome designed our bodies – to rebuild and repair. 

I can tell you that in just a few months off of gluten – my son started growing like crazy.  He’s been growing a half an inch to an inch every month, and gained 25 lbs this year.  No more bumps on his arms, elbows or knees…  healthy as a lark.  I’m so thankful we realized this before missing his grow spurt time!!  Praise be to God.

The latest excitement came this week… when someone I know with Parkinson’s completed their first week gluten-free – only to realize… their tremors?  Stopped.

Seriously?

Yes.  Incredible isn’t it?  I cried I’m so grateful.

Yet, I’m NOT surprised – I knew if they would give it a chance – they would SEE how much of an impact it will have.

The reason I know removing gluten can be SO powerful is because I know any amount of gluten in MY system – will trump everything positive I’m doing with supplements, and rest and recovering my body in a reverse manner. 

My food sensitivities are crazy powerful – and can knock me down for a week or more and shut off my digestion processes in a matter of hours.  Each time I’ve gotten accidentally glutenated has presented more auto immune symptoms that drag on and on – and they’re down right scary.  So why WAIT?

Once you remove gluten, you’re also able to see what other food sensitivities you might have – as well as begin to heal and repair your gut from the damage that has led to the auto immunity or cancer.

Would you then go BACK to the very things that made you sick?

Gluten is the first issues at hand, processed dairy is the next…  and then basically anything processed or with MSG (restaurants use a lot of this), as you get cleaner and cleaner – you’ll realize how poorly you had felt before!  It’s not a trend, or a key to buying a bunch of GF products or to live eating grain free – it’s about eating REAL food, and making foods from nut flour – from scratch, so you KNOW what is in it and you can maximize your health! 

To go gluten-free – you really must pay attention to what you’re feeding your body – it could be making you very sick and creating a whole host of problems that is killing you – noticably or secretly.  Seeing a holistic or integrative facility will help you get to the SOURCE of your health issues and vitamin deficiencies, will get you back on track to health!

Hormone Disruptors?

Are you bombarded with toxins everyday that are actually hormones disruptors?
Yes. You are.  (and this is NO April Fool’s JOKE)
You might not even be aware of the toxins in your plastics, make-up, and soaps.
Soaps?
Yes… a main ingredient “triclosan” is actually in antibacterial soaps and toothpaste!  It’s a pesticide, and is known for causing bacterial resistance and health issues… but the FDA still declares it “safe” to use in cleaners and soap humans put on their hands before eating (in the name of being CLEAN?)

A better question might be – why is it declared SAFE?

It’s not necessary, and it’s a highly over-used marketable term to sell something that is “anti-bacterial”. I’ll admit it – I fell for it, for years. But no more!  Our children’s immune systems were in the tank… and there are lots of reasons why.
Then there are parabens, and phthalates in our make-up, and beauty products… and BPA, a chemical contained in plastics from food containers to toys children put in their mouths (recycle #7 if you’re checking your plastics) and BPA is also in can linings, unless labeled otherwise.  Chances are, unless you’re aware – you’re consuming it regularly.
Again, the FDA and several other “food companies” declare these are “SAFE” to consume… that they uphold the nutritional value and quality.  Interesting that it’s the same GMO pushing companies that delcare their food and products are “completely safe” also…  They might have a hand in their clearly ‘bent’ studies.

Why does the health condition of our nation prove OTHERWISE?

Why are cancer cells shown with many of these specific toxins, and auto immune disease (hypothyroidism specifically) and cancer on the rise and issues like infertility are such an issue?

Random chance from these “completely safe” products?

Remember, it’s not just ONE thing that is making people sick – it’s LOTS of things that have change in the past 50 years specifically… within our diets, and within the environment.

This study from Dateline NBC was an encouragement to me personally (please watch the video).  It showed that, once again – common sense seems to out prove the “professional” who declares something isn’t a problem, that clearly is.  Apparently he hasn’t gotten struck down with his auto immune disease symptoms yet.  Thankfully the reporter in this short segment “gets it” and is willing to make changes for her family and daughters.

That’s all it is people – being aware.  Making changes.  You have to start somewhere…  Clearly things need to change!

Stop Making Yourself Sick

They have made a dish especially for us with instructions - so we can order whenever we want, this same thing.  (They even make a specific key to type in for servers, just for us)  It's called the "Rama Garden" and it's simply steamed chicken and veggies. (although I can't have the rice, my husband has some).  We bring our organic, gluten-free soy sauce - and it's out "treat".

Do you realize that the choices you’re making everyday could be making you very SICK and you’re looking in the wrong places to be well again?

This weekend I read of yet another (young) person, from my old home town, with a “rare auto immune disease” who very quickly fell ill and is now hospitalized and on chemotherapy in one of the nation’s TOP medical facilities in the nation. What in the WORLD is going on?

I’ll tell you what is going on – it’s toxin overload… and a majority of it is in the food we put in our mouths everyday. The disease begins in our GUT.

A year ago I watched the documentary, “Hungry for Change” (available to watch on Netflix or free online until March 31, 2013), and while in the middle of my own battle for health, it struck enough of a cord with me to never desire soda again and look deeper and what food was doing to me.

Once I realized that soda was being chemically “created” to manipulate my brain – I was done.

I knew it was addictive. I thought I had the upper hand…

But it was also too late for me…. and I’m pretty sure I’ve drunk less soda than most in my lifetime. I really didn’t drink soda much soda until I had my 4th child, 9 years ago. I didn’t drink diet soda until I got diabetes (and those lovely nutritionists suggested I drink diet pop? How do they keep their jobs?). So, all the while KNOWING diet pop, and soda was bad for me – I still drank it. I ignored the warnings.

But, now that it’s killed my hormone levels and caused adrenal fatigue, you bet I speak up to others who are drinking it. I want more for them and I pray they can learn from my mistakes.

What is adrenal fatigue? (read more about this here) It’s that “fight or flight” feeling you get when you are stressed. If your body is malfunctioning and missing key vitamins, enzymes and amino acids – it goes into “dump mode” instead… and you get a “downer” feeling – or a hopeless/helpless feeling instead. You body makes you “tired” so you are forced to rest… and it contributes to chronic fatigue (those with auto immune diseases struggle with).

The good news is – it’s able to be reversed and worked on if you catch it soon enough!! It’s why I take glutathione, CoEnzyme 10 and my Adapten all supplements.

How about those JUNK oils I talked about a few weeks ago here. They are one the MAJOR reasons we don’t eat out, other than obviously a dangerous gluten cross contamination.

What do you think restaurants are saturating your food with? Chemically created CANOLA oil and the addictive enhanced excitotoxin – MSG. Headaches and chronic inflammation anyone? Yes, that’s why you feel so poorly after eating out the night after.

Sadly we learned last week that Chick-fil-a is putting upwards of 108 ingredients into their chicken , 2 types of MSG alone. (I’m not wondering why I got super sick the last time we went there…)

Seriously – Does plain, grilled CHICKEN need ingredients? It does to preserve it and make it addictive. (and no wonder those fries were so good in the canola oil!) Yuck.

It made it an easy choice to say – NO MORE.

It’s simply not an option.

Easy? No. God never said it would be easy – but we have options in this country. We have to make choices.

It’s sad this is how we have to choose to live in our country – that our country, that is SO developed in so many ways – is failing our people with poor food “products” and dining options and medical care “answers” that aren’t making people well.

It’s sickening, really.

You have a choice, just like we do – and you are the one that has to choose what you’re going to put in your body.

As for me and my house. We shall serve the Lord, and do our best, as we learn more – to take care of what He gave us.
