The Healthy Snack Idol…

At first I thought it was a fluke.

Our normal Friday morning shopping trip a few weeks ago, resulted in no sweet potato chips.  They were out of stock.

Now and again that happens…  We pick them up either Sunday or the following Wednesday.  We always keep extra on hand.

Not a big deal…

Days go by… Still. No. Chips…  and NOW we’re completely OUT of stock.

Ok, now it’s been well OVER a week… and I would like to think I’m NOT addicted to these chips.

I. AM.

I think God is teaching me a lesson really.

Silly chips.

I didn’t even LIKE chips… remember?  How did this happen!?!?!?!

I tried buying the cheddar counterpart a few days ago.

I scanned the entire area… thinking MAYBE something else might tickle my fancy.  I have eaten some Triscuit Thins to help me get by.

Sure they’re good…

But they’re NOT my Sweet Potato chips.

Yes…  I have been praying about this.

“Please God.  Bring me back my chips!!!!  SOON. Amen.”  Selfish you say?  Yes. A bit.  Okay, I really haven’t prayed that, but I’ve thought it.

I’m sure there is just a small shortage after I blogged about them, and now they’ll be stocked full force the NEXT time we go to our grocery store. (Or… maybe not.)  I have thought that for almost two weeks…  You can imagine my disappointment today when my husband brought me the horrific news that they were STILL. GONE.

We even searched for them on!!  Only over priced single bags.  I’m not that desperate.  YET.

Yes.  I might have a problem.

I think I might purposefully fast from the chips to bring me back down to earth regarding the idol worship of this food. 😦 Shame on me.

I knew you all would smack me back into shape.  I don’t REALLY “need” the chips – I’m full and blessed without them.

But *snap* – I really do miss them.  *sigh*

Truly.  I’m thankful to God that He brought this to my attention!  Do you have any “too much of a good thing” you struggle with?

“You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.”  Exodus 20:4

  1. What kind are they? I just got some at HyVee last week, they were in the produce section.

  2. These are the chips.
HyVee did have them in their organic area. I haven’t felt the need to make the trip… until NOW. *gulp*

  3. This is HILARIOUS because I have been WAITING anxiously for those sweet potato chips to return to the shelves! PSYCHO!! I was just there yesterday looking at EVERY bag of “healthier” chips! I think for me it’s more that I generally eat the same things together and when one item is missing, it’s just not the same. Praying they return soon!! LOL!!!

  4. Just an update to say HyVee did have them – and BOY were they fresh! 🙂
